Getting Started with Native Instruments Maschine + on MacOS Catalina: A Step-by-Step Guide

As a music producer, I recently purchased a second-hand Maschine Mk1 controller and was excited to get started with it. However, when I connected it to my Mac running MacOS Catalina 10.15.7, I encountered some issues.

The first hurdle I faced was the 'System extension blocked' dialog pop-up, which required me to allow the system extension for the controller driver software. Even though I installed the correct driver (MASCHINE Controller Driver 2.8.0 - Mac OS X 10.9 - 10.11), it failed to install properly on my Catalina machine.

After some research, I discovered that the Maschine Mk1 controller is not supported by macOS 10.15, which explains why the installation process failed. However, I was determined to get my new controller up and running.

The next challenge I faced was getting the Maschine software installed on my Mac.
